2012 Region 889 Referee Administration Team

Effective immediately we've shuffled the line-up of responsibilities within the Referee Staff of our Region. We're all still here - but moving into different roles & still serving you - the valued Volunteers of Region 889.  Before announcing the new line-up, I'd like to thank the dynamic duo of Richard Depew and Kammy Ingram. They worked incredibly hard to grow our Referee ranks in Region 889 and have produced major results for their efforts:

    • More advanced refs than any time in past 6 years
    • More intermediate refs than any time in past 6 years
    • More youth refs than any time in past 6 years
    • Nearly 100% U8 game coverage for Fall 2011 100% recreation game coverage without coercion

Kelly Burton, Regional Referee Administrator - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

The RRA implements, monitors, and maintains the AYSO National Referee Program (including program delivery, staff development, communication, and coordination) at the regional level.

Kelly has lived in Aliso Viejo for 10 years and is a mom to 2 girls in the AYSO program.  Kelly joined the Region 889 board 2 years ago and held a Division Coordinator position. Kelly created the Glory Days Cup and has successfully led a group to bring this regional tournament to our area for the past 2 years - including volunteers from both our region to play in the tournament and youth to officiate the tournament. This tournament is now being replicated in several other regions!

Richard Depew, Director of Referee Instruction - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

While transferring out of the Regional Referee Administrator role, Richard will continue to be a big part of the referee department as he takes on the task of Regional Director of Instruction, which includes Instruction and Assessment.  Richard remains a member of our Executive Board, and he's considering taking the National Referee class in the near term. Additionally, he is offering guidance to Kelly Burton.

Kammy Ingram, Referee Child Protection Volunteer Advocate

Kammy has assumed the position of Child Volunteer Protection Advocate (CVPA). In this role,  she certifies that our Referee's have current Volunteer Applications on file for each year, and maintains the referee training certification records. She will also offer guidance to her replacement Michael Horner.  As this isn't enough, Kammy has also graciously accepted the role of Recording Secretary for our Region as well - thank you Kammy!

Michael Horner, Referee Scheduling Coordinator - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Michael served as our referee scheduler for the Fall 2011 season.  He did a remarkable job and worked tirelessly.  Nobody knows how Michael has the time given a busy work life, and nearly 10-year-old quadruplets that he and his wife enjoy.  But we aren’t asking and look forward to changes that Michael is making to make things better for our referees.

Owen Kimbro

Owen will continue in the capacity of Youth Mentor for the coming season.  His passion for inspiring our youth to come out to the field is outstanding, and we're certainly fortunate to have him in our Region.

Sue Ord

Sue has 2 children playing in our Region became a Referee only this past year. However, her willingness to do games and then offer to do more to help our Referee department is so generous. This season Sue will be the Assistant Referee Scheduler.

Sabina Gandhi

Sabina is a parent of 2 children in our Region who generously helps with both of those teams.  Sabina has recently agreed to help with referee uniform and equipment distributions making it easier for our refs to get what they need.

Additional Referee Department jobs will be available soon.  If you are interested in helping out, please contact K
